A 500 kV tower stands about 200 feet tall, roughly the height of an 18-story building. Numbers like that are hard to picture, so stand one in front of you, at true size, with your phone's camera.

A true-scale illustration of a typical 500 kV lattice tower, built to the same dimensions as the towers in our ground views: about 200 feet. It shows how tall a tower is, not where one would go. SDG&E has not filed a design or tower positions, so wherever you place it is your choice, not a prediction. A sign in the scene says so in every screenshot.
The corridor map
SDG&E's published route, from the Imperial Valley Substation to the proposed North of SONGS substation, and the three alternatives they are studying alongside it — South Mountain, Montezuma Grade and Imperial Valley West. Use the legend to switch layers on and off.

Where this comes from
Everything here is built from SDG&E's own published geometry. The corridor map is traced from the detailed route maps SDG&E re-issued in September 2026, placed against public map data to within about 100 meters (a few hundred meters west of De Luz, where only its overview map reaches). The tower views were built on its August drawing of the Temecula stretch, which the September maps left unchanged to within about 45 meters. SDG&E has not filed with the CPUC, so there is no surveyed centerline yet and no surveyed tower position. These are search corridors, not property lines.
